Sandwell Primary School Recognised at the West Midlands Community Sports Awards
The Federation of Abbey Infant and Abbey Junior School in Sandwell was recognised among the winners of the prestigious West Midlands Community Sports Awards last night in Birmingham.
Abbey Infant and Junior School were awarded a Primary PE and Sport Premium award for their commitment and dedication to upskilling PE staff within their school.
Last nights event hosted by Nick Owen from BBC Midlands Today celebrated the unstinting work that local people carry out to enable communities to engage in physical and sports activities. It wasn't just the winners and runners up that were celebrated last night. We also saluted all those who have been nominated, together with the wider community; a significant proportion of which is voluntary. Without them a number of opportunities to take part in activity wouldn't take place.
The West Midlands Community Sports Awards is run by the six County Sports Partnerships across the region; Active Black Country; Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire Sport; Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin; Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent; Sport Birmingham; and Sports Partnership Herefordshire & Worcestershire, along with the University of Birmingham Sport and BBC Midlands.
